The discovery of oil in Qatar brought new opportunities which resulted in large influx of expatriates to Qatar. The rapid growth of the country motivated professionals, especially engineers to look for suitable and better career opportunities in Qatar, and as a result lot of engineers from different engineering colleges of Kerala started migrating to Qatar. By 80’s and 90’s alumni’s of engineering colleges in Kerala started forming their alumni groups in Qatar. Slowly many inter alumni competitions starting from Cricket tournament were initiated between alumni groups. Seeing the devoted group work in these activities, some senior engineers felt the need of a cohesive group for engineers from Kerala and it paved the way to establish a group in the year 2000 with an informal name KERALA ENGINEERS.
When the group KERALA ENGINEERS became a viable entity, the need of formalizing the group with proper structure and byelaw became a necessity. This resulted ultimately on the formation of KERALITE ENGINEERS FORUM in 2001 .
